About the trip

Khao Sok and Cheow Lan for 2 days
Khao Sok National Park is the largest reserve in southern Thailand. Its area is 739 sq. km, of which 165 is occupied by Cheow Lan Lake. The reserve has unique nature, with rainforests older than the Amazon jungle. Gibbons, macaques, langurs, wild boars, dwarf deer, elephants, and even tigers inhabit the wild.

You have a unique opportunity to visit this place and see the true beauty of nature. This is the most intense land trip from Phuket, which can be taken for either 1 day or 2. The two-day program includes more stops. Next, we will take a closer look at the places you will visit by choosing the two-day program.

Day one.

Monkey Temples
Monkey Temple - the name originated from the long-tailed macaques that inhabit the cliffs at the entrance to the cave. You have a great opportunity to treat the fluffy creatures with bananas or nuts, which are sold on the premises. The sacred site is set up right in the rock, next to which grows a Bodhi tree. Inside, there are 3 caves, which are located one after another.

The Great Cave is the main cave where the altar and a fifteen-meter golden statue of Buddha are located;
The light one – here on the wall, you can see the seals of royal family members who visited this place;
The dark one – where there are huge rocky formations in the form of stalactites and stalagmites.

Bang Riang Temple
Bang Riang Temple - located on one of the highest mountains in Phang Nga province. As you exit the minibus, you will immediately notice two statues of snakes, symbolizing the guardians of the temple. The closer you get to the building, the more vibrant colors and wonders of architectural thought you will see.
Everything inside is breathtaking. The walls illustrate the entire life of Buddha, and in the altar of the central building lies one of the oldest relics - a piece of Buddha.
Upon exiting the temple, you will reach a viewpoint from where there is a stunning view of the majestic statue of the goddess Guan Yin and the golden statue of the sitting Buddha.

Cheow Lan Lake.
After visiting two temples, we move on to the main part of the tour – Cheow Lan Lake, where we will spend the rest of the day.

Upon arriving at the pier, we board a long-tail boat and head to the resort base. The landscape is mesmerizing. Cheow Lan is an artificial reservoir with incredibly clear water, surrounded by high cliffs and impenetrable jungles. The reservoir impresses with its size, and due to the huge mountains rising straight from the water, you feel like a tiny person.

There will be a small stop near the natural landmark - Guilin Rock, where you can take picturesque photographs against its backdrop. After 50 minutes, we will reach the base.

Lunch at a floating restaurant
Upon arriving at the resort base, we first check into the bungalow. After settling in the cabin, it's time to have lunch at the restaurant on the water.
The menu will feature traditional Thai dishes. Throughout the stay, coffee and tea are absolutely free in unlimited quantities.

Free time
After a hearty lunch, you can do your own activities. Here you can swim in fresh water, sunbathe, jump from the pier, and enjoy the stunning landscapes.

A self-guided canoe trip is particularly popular. A deposit of 500 baht is required for the paddle, which will be returned when you bring it back. By taking a canoe, you can explore the nearby surroundings, get closer to the shore, and enjoy the sounds of nature.

In such places, time flies very quickly. Closer to the evening, you can choose a comfortable spot and admire the beauty of the sunset against the backdrop of high cliffs and calm waters.

Dinner will take place at the same restaurant. There is a small shop on the premises where you can buy beer, chips, or Thai rum. But since there is no competition, prices here are inflated. It’s better to take care of this in advance and buy everything you need at the pier or bring it with you.

Unforgettable night
The most beautiful part of this tour is the overnight stay on Cheow Lan Lake. You have a unique opportunity to see the incredible landscape in the night light. The silence of the mountains, the sounds of nature, the calm water, and indescribable beauty. All of this will make you spend several hours at the pier, unable to tear yourself away.

Only in such moments can you discover the real Thailand, untouched by crowds of tourists, left in the form that everyone dreams of seeing.

Day two

Safari on the lake
We start our day by exploring the coastal area of Cheow Lan. The goal of this swim is to show tourists the local fauna in the form of monkeys, toucans, wild boars, and other representatives of the animal world.

In the morning, animals are more active and come down to the water to drink. It is at this moment that you are more likely to see the inhabitants of the mountainous areas and jungles.

Breakfast before departure.
If you think that the program of the second day is less intense, you are mistaken. The entertainment is just beginning, and there is still much ahead on the second day. So you need to have breakfast and gather strength.

The chefs of the floating restaurant offer tourists sandwiches, scrambled eggs, and tea with coffee. After a light breakfast, it's time to hit the road.

Viewpoint.
After an hour of traveling on the lake, we dock at the pier. At the top of the mountain is a viewpoint decorated with flowers and other decorations. That's where we will head. From this viewpoint, there is a view of Cheow Lan and the plateau, which is also a hydroelectric power station.

Take as many photos as possible because this is the last stop where you can admire the lake. After that, we jump into the minibus and head off.

Rafting on rafts
The second stop is the river, down which we will descend on bamboo rafts. This will not require any effort from you, as a specially trained local resident will manage the watercraft.

Bamboo rafting – a unique opportunity to see the heart of Thailand. The route passes through jungles, mountains, small fields, and other picturesque spots.

During the rafting, there will be a short stop for tea. The water here is boiled in the old Thai tradition - in a bamboo tube. After that, it is poured into cups made from bamboo stalks, which will be a keepsake for tourists. Tea brewed this way has an indescribable taste and aroma.

After arriving at the finish point, we head for lunch. It takes place in a restaurant with a beautiful view and consists of Thai dishes adapted to European taste.

Waterfall.
The next stop is a small waterfall inside the jungle. In the low season (rainy season), it becomes full of water and impresses with its power. In the high season, it resembles a stream flowing down the rocks. In any case, great photos can be taken against its backdrop.

Elephant ride.
The elephant trekking in this trip is a bit unusual. All thanks to the unique route through the jungle and along the riverbed. You will be able to see how these majestic animals ascend hills and high rocks.

You don't have to worry about safety. All the elephants are quite friendly. Throughout their lives, they work with people and have already gotten used to us. Each elephant is secured with a two-point seatbelt. At the same time, everyone can sit on the elephant's neck and get a lot of unforgettable sensations. At the end of the trip, you can take a few photographs as a keepsake and delight the elephants by feeding them bananas.

Hot springs.
The final stop of our tour is the radon hot springs. On the site, you will see several pools with hot water of different temperatures. The influence of radon has a healing effect on the body, accelerating the healing of wounds and skin diseases, as well as improving the functioning of internal organs. You can stay in the bath for no more than 15 minutes to avoid an excess of the substance.

Return home
With this, our trip ends. In two days, every tourist will gain a wealth of experiences for the rest of their lives, as such opportunities are rare:

Spend the night on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
Ride on elephants.
Descend the river on bamboo rafts;
See amazing Buddhist temples.

All this and much more you can see and feel on the trip to the Khao Sok National Park and Cheow Lan Lake.
